Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment
Tinnitus affects about 15% of the general population, and for 1-2% of these people, living with tinnitus is a distressing and disturbing experience. For some people tinnitus is more than a mild annoyance, it's a chronic and distressing condition that can lead to:
- loss of sleep
- inability to relax
- lack of concentration
- sensitivity to loud sounds
- a negative impact on work, family and social life

A new treatment is now available
The revolutionary Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment is a patented acoustic therapy that has been shown in clinical trials to result in a significant improvement in tinnitus symptoms. Clinical trials completed over the last decade show that up to 90% of people who suffer from tinnitus experience:
- relief from their tinnitus
- an improved ability to fall asleep
- a sense of control over their tinnitus
- reduced disturbance from their tinnitus
The Neuromonics third clinical trial has been published in the April 2007 issue of Ear and Hearing, the official journal of the American Auditory Society. Reprints are available by request through Dr. Segal. Click on the links to learn more about Neuromonics here and here. Read the results of another study, published in Ear, Nose and Throat Journal, in June 2008.

How does it work?
The Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment involves listening to an acoustic signal that is customized for each person's unique hearing and tinnitus profile. This acoustic signal is embeded in music, making it pleasant and relaxing to listen to. Its signal targets your brain's neural pathways and re-programs them to filter out the tinnitus sound while reducing the disturbance and impact of tinnitus on your quality of life.
What is involved?
Over a period of six months, the treatment is delivered by listening to a specially designed medical device, the Neuromonics Processor, for a couple of hours a day. It is compact and lightweight, similar to an MP3 player, which makes it easy to incorporate treatment into your lifestyle.
